6 months left for MIVAMI to do Chingola roads

ONLY six months has remained before the contract for MIVAMI construction can expire, yet the company has literary done nothing, this is the situation which has annoyed Chingola residents.

And Nchanga Member of Parliament (MP) Wylbur Simmusa has assured the residents of Chingola that the contractor will up his tempo to beat the deadline.

Speaking to The Independent Observer, Mary Phiri a resident of Chingola said the situation was frustrating and annoying to residents of Chingola.

Ms Phiri said the contract for MIVAMI was expiring in six months time, yet the contractor was not even half way through.
Infrastructure called road in Chingola

“We are just too passive as residents of Chingola that is why each contractor hired to do Chingola roads will deliberately fail. If we can push Road Development Agency (RDA) and the two MPs then something can be done. Let’s take the contractor and the MPs to task if that is when they will deliver.

“It amazes me that it’s only in Chingola where three contractors can fail in row to do Chingola roads. At times people blame Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) for not doing enough in corporate and social responsibility but the question is point at what our authorities have done,” she said.

She said her complaint was not aimed at headline-grabbing, but it was time the Government invested in good road infrastructure which has long-lasting benefits.

Another resident Phahlani Moyo said the road status in the district was appalling.

Mr Moyo said roads in Chingola were an eyesore; they were an anathema to motorists and motorcyclists.

“Roads have literally moved from deterioration to none existence such that our children will fail to differentiate between a good road and a bush path.
Some roads in Chingola

“It is not a mockery that expectant mothers opt to walk than be driven on the Chingola roads that can lead to an embarrassment of delivering on the bus or experience premature delivery,” he said.

Mr Moyo said the sad part was that MVAMI had already shown symptoms of failure when people of Chingola had thought the contractor would end the problem.

“The known fact is that better roads lead to more money as there is a strong link between good roads and food security, between good roads and good medical system, security, mention them if you want.”

“Though the Government may not take the whole package of the blame for failing to maintain the road and the drainage system, but it still has the borne to chew for awarding contracts to companies that had failed us more than once.

MMD was ousted out power because of roads we hope it won’t be the same with PF.

He said people of Chingola didn’t not need just a promise that the roads would be done but action.
And Mr Simuusa said three groups of MIVAMI had moved on site and works had started again after the rains had subsided.

Mr Simuusa
He said there should be no excuse for the contractor for failing to finish the road works before October the month in which contract would be expiring.

Mr Simuusa who is also Land and Natural Resources Minister said he was told by the contractor that in three months time the contactor would have the much needed plant required for the preparation of bitumen.

Personally i think MIVAMI has failled and that their quality of works are pathetic.I say so because when i look at the repair works they did at the round about near the DCs office. One can easilly tell that it even the other roads that they may be working on will not last. Government need Contractors like Phoenix Contactors the ones that did Chingola Kitwe road.

I have been browsing online greater than three hours today, yet I
never found any attention-grabbing article like yours.
It's lovely value enough for me. In my opinion, if all site owners
and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will likely be a lot more helpful than ever before.
